Apple has designed the iPad to automatically update for regular and essential system software when your iPad is a computer connected with internet access. If you do not connect your device and synchronize your data with on a regular basis, simply follow the following steps to manually update the iPad operating system and other essential system software. First With the cable from Apple, you connect your iPad with your laptop or desktop computer. Second Launch iTunes and the software should automatically detect and synchronize your computer and stores your device. Third Select your iPad on the device by clicking on them. 4th Click on the "Summary tab". 5th Click "Check for Update" button to connect the Apple File Server. iTunes will now connect and see if there any software to update. A dialog window opens, the size of the update and the description if there is no software update available. 6th Click "Next". 7th iTunes is now Apple's license agreement. Click on "Agree" to accept. 8th iTunes will now update your software to download and automatically install the software. You will iPad restarted once it's done and shows the Apple logo. The nice thing about Apple is that if you read the license agreement, Apple will update your software up to and including the next major revision of the iPad operating system. What this means is that if you have version 3.11 of the iPad operating system. Apple is free to update as version 3.12, the latest version 3.xx as the Apple iPad version 4 is the OS version that included an upgrade as well as the delivery!
